Ceramic Coating Options in India Explained: XPEL Fusion Plus Lite, Classic, Premium and Satin, Plus Graphene and Borophene

By Carsbuddy ·

Ceramic coating comes in a confusing range of names, numbers and promises. This guide sets out the options we actually offer at Carsbuddy, what separates them and how to choose, without the jargon.

What Ceramic Coating Is

A ceramic coating is a liquid that is applied to clean, prepared paint and cures into a thin, hard, water-repelling layer. It makes the surface slick, so dirt and water slide off, and it adds depth and gloss. It does not stop stone chips or dents. For that, you want PPF. See PPF vs ceramic coating.

As an XPEL authorized installer, we apply XPEL Fusion Plus, and we also offer graphene and borophene coatings.

XPEL Fusion Plus: Four Versions

Fusion Plus Lite: 1-Year Warranty

An introduction to ceramic coating. You get much of the slickness and easy cleaning at a lower price and a shorter interval. A good fit if you are new to coatings or want reliable short-term defence.

Fusion Plus Classic: 4-Year Warranty

Our most popular ceramic coating, and the core of the range. A hard, hydrophobic layer that repels water, helps cut grime, improves clarity and defends against environmental fallout, with a 4-year warranty.

Fusion Plus Premium: 8-Year Warranty

Our most advanced formulation, developed for maximum performance. An 8-year warranty and the highest level of hardness and gloss in the Fusion Plus range. Suited to new and luxury cars where you want the longest-term result.

Fusion Plus Satin: 4-Year Warranty

Made for satin paint and for STEALTH satin film. It protects satin finishes without making them glossy, with a 4-year warranty.

Graphene Coating

Graphene coating blends graphene oxide into the ceramic layer. It is designed to be hard but flexible, to spread surface heat rather than hold it, to resist water spotting and to leave a deep, dark-looking gloss. It is a sensible choice for a daily car that lives outdoors.

Borophene Coating

Borophene is a newer topcoat made around a single-atom sheet of boron. It aims for an extremely low-friction surface that resists acids, sap and industrial fallout, with tight water beading. It goes over a base coating or over PPF as a sacrificial top layer that is refreshed at each service.

Which One Suits Which Car

  • First time with ceramic, sensible budget: Fusion Plus Lite.
  • Most daily and family cars: Fusion Plus Classic.
  • New or luxury car, longest-term result: Fusion Plus Premium.
  • Satin or matte paint: Fusion Plus Satin.
  • A car that lives outdoors in heat and dust: graphene coating.
  • An extra layer over a base coating or PPF, with easy upkeep: borophene coating.

This is a starting point, not a rule. We look at the paint and how the car is used before recommending.

What About the "9H" Claim

You will see "9H" used in ceramic coating marketing, referring to a pencil-hardness scale. It is a lab test of how the cured surface resists a pencil, and it does not mean the coating cannot be scratched. Treat it as one data point, not a guarantee, and judge a coating by the product, the installer and the warranty instead.

Preparation Decides the Result

A coating is only as good as the paint underneath it. Before any coating goes on, the car is washed, decontaminated and, where needed, polished to correct swirls and defects, because coating seals in whatever is below it. Good preparation is a large part of what you are paying for.

Looking After a Coated Car

Coating makes washing easier, not unnecessary. Use a proper two-bucket wash, avoid harsh brushes and strong chemicals, and book maintenance when we advise it. Aftercare keeps the coating performing and keeps the warranty meaningful.
